We offer special top stops with 3 spikes for spiral zip fasteners. These top stops are also used on ready-made spiral zip fasteners. These top stops are pressed directly onto the spiral (in fact, coil or helix). The spikes penetrate through the zip fastener tape and are pushed into the plastic spiral interstices. As a result, these top stops are fixed very firmly and hold well.
We will show you step by step below how to mount these top stops on a spiral zip fastener. Needle-nose pliers and a small flat pliers will be helpful. Two videos at the bottom of this page will demonstrate the process.
Insert the top stop from below into the zip fastener tape. Ideally, the single spike (picture on the left) should appear between two spiral windings.
All three spikes of the top stop should be as close as possible and flat on the spiral to prevent sticking on the raised spikes during further use of the zip fastener. It also looks nicer when the flat-pressed top stops hide in the slider when it is slid up to the very top to close the zip fastener completely.
The smooth side of the completely pressed top stop appears on the bottom side of the zip fastener spiral. The pictures below show completely installed top stops on a No. 25 spiral zip fastener with 10.5 mm chain width. The first image shows their top, the second image shows their bottom and the third image shows the slider covering the top stops when the zip fastener is closed completely.
